ATTO 2-Gigabit Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters Certified Interoperable with FalconStorTM IPStorTM Software

Together, companies provide affordable data-management solution

Amherst, NY and Melville, NY August 8, 2002 - ATTO Technology, Inc., a worldwide manufacturer of Fibre Channel and SCSI storage-infrastructure solutions for Enterprise and Content Creation environments, and FalconStorTM Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading provider of network storage infrastructure software, announced today that the ATTO 2-Gigabit ExpressPCI FC 3300 Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter (HBA) has been certified interoperable with FalconStor's flagship product, IPStorTM. Together, the companies provide a robust solution for mission-critical Enterprise applications such as disaster recovery and storage consolidation.

The ATTO 2-Gigabit ExpressPCI FC 3300 HBA, with automatic speed negotiation capability, is completely compatible with existing 1-Gigabit/sec. Fibre Channel SANs and offers a smooth migration to a 2-Gigabit SAN. Its 400 MB/sec. performance in full-duplex mode allows for data movement in both high-I/O and high-bandwidth environments such as streaming audio/video and on-line transaction processing. A fixed Short-wave optical LC connector allows for data transfers across distances up to 500 meters - an important factor for widely dispersed storage networks. With its remarkable speed, the ATTO FC 3300 serves as a catalyst for enhancing the performance of IPStor's storage networking and data management capabilities.

IPStor's open architecture software builds intelligence into the SAN by offloading Enterprise storage services from both the application servers and the storage devices. A high-performance in-band solution, IPStor lies in the middle of the data path, serving as a gateway to storage and providing true any-to-any connectivity, allowing the target operating system to access authorized storage resources via Fibre Channel or IP/iSCSI. This open storage-networking- infrastructure software suite takes the complexity and expense out of storage networking and management and maximizes the availability and recoverability of data for all business-critical applications. IPStor is designed to facilitate storage-services delivery so that Enterprises can lower their total cost of owning storage by benefiting from efficient capacity and data management, 'round- the-clock' data availability, and accelerated data backup and recovery.

"A key feature of ATTO's ExpressPCI FC 3300 2-Gigabit host adapter is its ability to enhance the performance of both high-I/O and high-bandwidth environments," states Sherri Robinson, ATTO's Markets manager. "This makes the ATTO FC 3300 an ideal fit for FalconStor's IPStor because IPStor is used widely in both of these environments. Certification of our ExpressPCI FC 3300 with FalconStor enables us to work side by side with an industry leader in providing split-second data access, whether it's backing up data or virtualizing storage."

ATTO's Fibre Channel host adapters have been optimized to enhance the performance of IPStor so that customers can realize maximum performance when running messaging systems such as Microsoft® Exchange; databases such as Oracle®, Microsoft® SQL; file servers; media servers; blade servers; backup applications; rich media servers; streaming servers; and management applications such as Error Correcting Memory, and Customer Relationship Management. IPStor, coupled with ATTO Fibre Channel HBA performance, simplify administrative tasks.

"The certification of products between ATTO and FalconStor shows a commitment from both companies to help our mutual customers build and utilize a more efficient and cost-effective SAN, while meeting their growing data requirements," said Wayne Lam, FalconStor vice president of marketing. "This reinforces our commitment to ensuring IPStor's any-to-any connectivity, as well as the unique way it enhances security and high data availability over Fibre Channel SANs."
