Solution for Enterprise-to-Edge Connectivity

Currently, over 60% of critical enterprise data resides at
the workgroup level in independent low-cost servers, leaving
that data unprotected with limited availability and
utilization. IT managers are challenged with extending data
center-class reliability, availability and serviceability to
the fabric edge. McDATA's ES-1000 Switch extends these
advantages by providing single-source connectivity between
the data center core and increasingly mission-critical
workgroup data.
The McDATA ES-1000 Switch
provides an ideal way to consolidate workgroup servers and
storage into a seamless, well-managed workgroup or
"mini" SAN. Consolidating servers with the ES-1000
Switch allows IT managers to gain control of the runaway
costs associated with managing, scaling, and protecting edge
data. With the ES-1000 Switch, you can connect up to eight
devices allowing common storage, backups and management. The
ES-1000 Switch extends data center-class high availability
and reliability to the workgroup through its redundant power
supplies and hot-swappable power and cooling features. It's
plug and play capability reduces and simplifies installation
time.
While consolidating
distributed servers and storage into mini SANs increases
storage utilization, management costs remain high and data
sharing is still limited. With the ES-1000 Switch fabric
port, you can create an enterprise storage solution by
centralizing data into a single enterprise SAN based on your
highly available director-based backbone. In this way, the
enterprise storage network is centrally managed from the
data center, dramatically reducing management costs. Data is
accessible enterprise-wide, and is backed up to central tape
libraries—improving data protection. Data center
experience and methods now extend from the core to the edge.
